Why creating jobs is the single most important task for India’s economy

In this conversation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Dr. Rajat Kathuria identifies job-building as the main challenge for the Indian economy. The Director of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations highlights that sustainable growth will be contingent on India’s ability to climb the value chain and ensure skilled education for manufacturing jobs – creating opportunities for enhanced cooperation with Germany. Dr. Kathuria also explains why India’s self-sufficiency policy (Aatmanirbhar Bharat) should not be confused with an anti-globalisation effort.
